Seigfried Desmond Presberry was born in Fort Meade, Maryland in June of 1954 and is the fourth child of seven. He graduated from Baltimore City College High School in 1972 and attended Morgan state University in 1974 through 1977, majoring in Rehabilitation Services. In 1977, Seigfried married Frances Weems. He is the proud father of two children and even prouder grandfather of four.
In 1977, Seigfried began a career with State of Maryland as a Correctional Officer. It was during his career as a Correctional Officer, that he felt called by God to be his "servant". Seigfried became a member of Saint Veronica Catholic Church Baltimore, Maryland in 1992 and later graduated from the "To Be Church Together" program sponsored by the Archdiocese of Baltimore. In the fall of 1998, he accepted his call and began study at Saint Mary's Seminary located in Baltimore, Maryland. Seigfried was "Ordained" a Permanent Deacon of the Archdiocese of Baltimore on June 23, 2001. Upon his ordination, Deacon Presberry retired from State service with the rank of Captain after 25 years and concentrated on his ministry.
Deacon Presberry is assigned to Saint Mark's Catholic Church in Catonsville, Maryland. In addition, he ministers at Saint Ambrose Catholic Church located on Park Heights Avenue Baltimore, Maryland once a month. He is a former Operations Manager of the Franciscan Center in Baltimore where he served God's children for over 9 years.
Thinking his days in Corrections were over, Deacon Presberry accepted the position of Director of Prison Ministry for the Archdiocese of Baltimore in February 2011, thus becoming its first Director within the Department of Evangelization. Deacon Presberry favorite scripture passage is "In him I can do all things" Philippians 4:13
